Russia is ready to launch a nuclear strike against Ukraine, according to geopolitical analyst Jeff Nyquist.
“If a nuclear bombardment is in the cards, that could take place at any time,” he told InfoWars founder Alex Jones on Oct. 12. “My guess is, knowing Soviet military doctrine which is inherited from the Russian Federation, the nuclear strikes and the actual invasion of the forces have to come close together. So, my guess is three, four or five weeks away.”
“Perhaps I would be surprised if nuclear strikes occurred immediately within a week or two. But anything is possible [and] it’s hard to predict.”
Jones, meanwhile, touched on another development in the war. He said massive numbers of Russian troops were being mobilized in Belarus, near the country’s border with the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. This is a major development from Moscow, he noted, as the country will launch a new attack from another front.
Nyquist agreed, adding that there were also other signs of a possible escalation of war aside from Russian troop movement in Belarus. One such “disturbing” marker he mentioned was the Polish Ministry of the Interior distributing potassium iodide tablets to the country’s fire departments and emergency services.
He also mentioned Finland doing the same, which a report by Yle News expounded on. The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health issued a recommendation for households to purchase a single dose of iodine tablets in case of a radiation hazard emergency. It added that the tablets are meant for Finns aged three to 40 years old. (Related: Russia once again warns of a possible nuclear strike against Ukraine.)
According to Nyquist, Moscow’s mobilization of troops in Belarus could only mean that Russia is preparing to renew their double envelopment attack on Ukraine. He continued that the country could use either tactical nuclear weapons, thermobaric weapons or some new kind of ordnance to ensure Ukrainian forces capitulate.
Nyquist also mentioned the “alarming” remarks of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about Russia going for nuclear strikes. The Ukrainian leader called for preventive or preemptive strikes to ensure those nuclear weapons are not deployed.
“[The Russians] begin to prepare their society. That’s very dangerous,” Zelensky said. “They are not ready to do it, to use it. But they begin to communicate. They don’t know whether they’ll use or not use it. I think it’s dangerous to even speak about it.”
The analyst commented that Zelensky’s remarks about Russian nuclear weapons showed a man who has received frightening news about weapons that he can’t talk about. He added that the Ukrainian leader looked like a very distraught national leader with his demeanor. Moreover, Nyquist remarked that people must realize the existence of intelligence reports showing the Russians are about to use tactical nuclear weapons.
Jones said the former head of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization has warned about Russian President Vladimir Putin using nuclear weapons, because using them is the next step if they are losing under Russian military doctrine.
Nyquist agreed, pointing out that the first thing Putin did when he came to power in 2000 was to change Russia’s nuclear doctrine. He revised it to say that when Russia or its territories are threatened, it could use its nuclear arsenal.
